Extended Warranty and/or insurance?
Have any of you actually used the coverage to replace a phone that was a lemon / lost / broken / stolen? Have you used the coverage to upgrade your phone, and if so did you do this openly or did you claim the phone was lost or broken?
Thanks,

I was wondering what Cingular customers out there think of the relative merits of phone insurance from Cingular and the extended warranties available from retailers like Best Buy.

Cingular's Lockline insurance is the best thing going. It costs $3.99 a month, and when you file a claim a $50 deductable will be collected. This covers the phone, SIM, and any accessories. You can file twice in a 1 year period.
Sure, I have heard all kinds of excuses from people who file claims. Lost, stolen, breakage, water damage, etc. Even though this is not right, some people do file a claim to get a new phone because they are not elligible for an upgrade. This coverage also covers beyond the 1yr. man. warranty. Hope this helps.

I have more ATTWS - Cingular inquires, but I'll save them for my Team Leader and Trainers.

ATTWS 2G CC Rep.
I asked my Cingular account representative for all of West texas about your question. Here is what I figured out. As soon as the FCC marks approval, the merger will take place at a high rate of speed. Some indicate that things will be completed as soon as December. So,
ATT customers who already have Lockline insurance and keep there old ATT plan which Cingular will support, can keep their deductable at $35.
ATT customers who add Lockline before the merger takes place will also get to keep the $35 deduc.
ATT customers who switch to a Cingular plan, and have the Lockline in place will also keep the $35 deduc.
ATT customers who switch to a Cingular plan and then add Lockline will have a $50 deductable.
