What Cingular Should DO

There are 3 things that Cingular should do to make them the undisputed King of Wireless.

Free incoming calls
Free incoming text messages.
Unlimited Text comparable to Sprints prices.

Things they should be capable of but not a priority.

Ringback Tones
Ptt

Now, I know that a certain few of you have good reasons why theses things should not or will not happen, so lets hear them.

Ringback tones are retarded. I'll hang up on anyone who has a ringback tone on their phone. I also don't like PTT, but I can see some people having a use for it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some change in text messaging, but not until they're focusing on bringing in as many new people as possible. I don't see unlimited incoming calls picking up for a loooong time though. The more plans you have, the more confusing things get. Right now they don't need that as a gimmick so it probably wont be added.

Lol. I was thinking the same thing Ralph! Ringback tones should be one of the LEAST items of focus for the company. We are not just selling to teenagers anymore. We would make more money updating Data plans.

As for the text messaging, a year ago I was told that Cingular will not do that for a long time. Things change, so I don't know. I think that would be awesome, but it's not going to make or break the company.

The only service that I PERSONALLY have lost business over is the free mobile to home (which I think is not that great, but some customers do). And that is largely because Alltel is our #1 competitor in my market. Most every other feature I can make up to the customer with one of the few wonderful and unique featur...

I personally dont like ringback tones or ptt, but in order to reign supreme without question, then we should offer what other companies offer. We should be concentrating more on other issues first though.
Nextel and Sprint both have free incoming, and sprint has the best texting plans.
I am not saying that these things will happen anytime soon, but should they happen, noone could compete unless they offerered the same things.

They shouldn't be catching up but rather be innovating. The Rollover thing helped out great when it came out, but it has lost its steam by now. Free incoming will always sound better to customers than Rollover ever will. I've tried their PTT. It sucks. Average 8-10 seconds initial connect times with the two phones right next to me.

Dude you haven't tried their PTT unless you work in specific markets of corporate cingular. Dont make stuff up.

if cingular needed extra customers, then the unlim text would help. as for free incoming text, maybe an allotted amt (like 50) would be good. however, mobile to mobile text would also be a great idea.

incoming calls for free is a bad idea. great for customers, but bad for business. ptt and ringback are just extra options of no sinfificant importance. Sprint and verizon did ptt aand it hasnt helped either in any significant way. the ringback was done by tmo and verizon and has a limited market, not too much help. But at least cingular will offer both for those few that absolutely need it.

I was under the impression that Cingular feels that Cingular NEEDS more customers. Maybe I was wrong and they are satisfied with the 50 million they have.
Sorry folks, but Cingular doesn't need any new business. I guess I shouldnt have a job selling new lines of service anymore.

there's a difference between NEED and WANT. T-Mobile NEEDS, Cingular WANTS. 😉
