What kind of deposit to expect?

I cancelled service with 2 other lines, leaving one line on Cingular. He wanted to stay because a lot of his friends are there, so, oh well. He doesn't use it much so the service issues don't really bother him, I guess. What really helped me to make this decision was that this one guy I spoke to gave me a $100 credit, for all the problems. Since another manager lowered my ETFs to $50/line, I pretty much paid nothing to leave. I may come back though, after the 2 years with the new provider. The last few people I spoke with were really nice. I kind of wish I could stay, but I do need something at least semi-reliable.

Hmm, kind of high, but, oh well. Guess I'm used to being told I'm approved for 5 lines/$0 deposit.

I believe its a year. He may not have to go that high. I too have 5 lines with no deposit.

$150 is the lowest deposit they give in my market, but it is the most common for a no-hit. I have seen a few $250's pop up, but that was on older individuals.

I got a 0 deposit when I was 18. Credit is inherited so if your parents had good credit, it helps. Tell him to get a credit card and hold a balance on it and make payments for 3 months.

Creit isn't inherited. Baldness is. Big noses are. Not credit. It's a dopey score based on how far you are in debt and if you're ever late on your payments. Doesn't take into consideration income or even having a job.
