Union vote for blue employees

Not looking forward to this one myself. But am looking for real pros and cons. I would like to know as uch as possible so that I can make an informed decision.

Pros: Guaranteed wage increases a mediator for disputes between u and management.

Cons: Having to pay union dues. guaranteed severance in case of call center or store lay-offs. Relationship with management could change for the negative

Pros..

You get to have someone else negotiate what you are worth in fact resulting in getting the same pay as the worse among you.No matter that the pay is based on what the worst performers would get anyway in your craft. You get a token predetermined raise based on what someone else thinks you should get (not your own competence) whether you deserve it or not.

Your best buddy who sluffs off way more then you gets to keep his job because he's union protected and gets to have a mediator to keep his job screwing off.

Cons.

With pros like that who cares. Especially If you happen to think enjoy what most union members have. Worry free socialism. Not bad. Ask Teddy Kennedy.

Well lets see, if you compare the average salary of VZW employee's (non-union) to the avergae salary of Cingy enployee (union) you will see a huge disparity in favor of the VZW employees. The same is true w/in VZW, there is a small segment of about 50-60 employees in NY who are union and there pay scale is lower, there insurance program is not as good, they do not receive annual bonuses (becasue it is not part of there contract). Does not sound like it is really worth paying dues.

I would also bet that if the blue employees vote against the union that management will take better care of them than the orange union guys.
