I need to know if the following will incur DATA charges or will it use MINUTES.

SUBJECT:
Creating a Dial-Up Networking Connection for Windows XP via Bluetooth

FACT:
Microsoft Windows XP
Bluetooth

SYMPTOM:
Modem / Tethering

FIX:

Setting up the Connection:

Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel.

Double click Network Connections.

Click on Create a new connection.

The New Connection Wizard window appears, click the Next button.

Select Connect to the Internet.
Click the Next button.

Select Set up my connection manually.
Click the Next button.

Select the Connect using a dial-up modem.
Click the Next button.

Select the Bluetooth modem that is being used for the GPRS Connec...

This will incur charges not minutes. There are two types of INTERNET connections CSD which uses minutes and GPRS. CSD is TDMA only so u do not have the option of dialing in and using minutes on GSM. It used to be that CSD would give u a dial-up number for u to connect that cingular customer service would assign. The speed on the CSD connection was about 14.4k at peak rates. The speed on GPRS is a little slower than a 56k modem. The speed on EDGE class 10 is 115kbps. To get even up to a 50kps on standard GPRS u need to have class 10 GPRS. What pnone are using?

I can still do CSD on GSM. I use it sometimes on my second phone that has no data package, but only after 7pm when calls are free. Only do it to check email, that's about all its good for due to it's speed (9.6-14.4kbs)
