SE w600i for $300 is retarded....
i read somewhere that the w600i from sony ericsson when released would cost 399.99 retail, 349.99 with 1 year contract... and 299.99 with 2 year contract...
consider this, the ROKR, even though it doesnt have a 1.3 mp camera but does have almost everything the w600i has PLUS the expansion slot of memory cards only up to 512 mb, is cheaper
but the ROKR was 249.99 when it came out(with 2 year blah).. meaning 349.99 retail
consider they're both music oriented phones.
one can carry twice as much songs because the rokr ships with a 512mb card, but the w600i is always limited to 256 mb of internal memory.
in terms of buying a music phone(since the rokr is only like 250 retail) i could get a better phone in terms of music now i...

according to the Cingular web site (maybe this is wrong?) the ROCKR is limited to 100 songs on the card anyway, regardless of the size of the memory card. I would think 256M would be enough for 100 songs...I guess it depends on the length of the song and the format...

It is the i-Tunes software that limits it to 100 songs. Not the memory card.

From what I have seen by playing with the phone in a local store, and from what I have read, the i-Tunes software on the ROKR is capped at 100 songs. It cannot handle any more....even if you get more memory. Now, you can possibly have multiple memory cards with 100 songs on them at once (I'm not sure how that would work). But you cannot have the i-Tunes recognize more than 100 songs at one time.
Keep in mind that the W600 will not have expandable memory. You will be much better off going with the Sony Ericsson S710a for $199. Even though the memory stick slot is capped at 128mb on the s710, you can have more than one memory stick. The W600 has 256mb built in and that's it. No memory sticks.

i understood that but i figure that it doesnt fit my type to carry around a few memory sticks just to listen to music on a phone.. i dont even have that many songs on my i-pod i just like the phone for its more compact design and its fm radio tuner.

ive been searching for info. on this w600i phone and found great stuff! its coming out this month and will have a pricetag of 199-299 w/ 2 yr. contract! anyone else hear differently or the same??

Same pricing as the s710 and it sold pretty well... it will have a 100.00 rebate, the same as the s710 which it is replacing...

O yea, the rokr is selling pretty good by estimates moto released. but you also have two new i-tunes phones coming by christmas, so the music phone field is going to be overflowing for those holiday buyers...
