I need a simple bluetooth phone. My mother just purchased a car with bluetooth and wants a wireless headset, but needs a new phone. She is still using a 4 yr old Nokia, so needless to say she needs extremely SIMPLE to operate. She is also hooked on Nokias because of their durability. (she drops things alot) Our carrier is Cingular and I just havn't seen anything that impressive. ANY SUGGESTIONS????

HELP PLEASE

You don't really have any Nokia options right now, unless you can find an unlocked 6230 on ebay. But the Cingular branded version of that phone was recalled due to major software issues.

You may want to consider the Motorola v551. That phone is a good phone. Some people I know have loved it, others have had nothing but problems....so it all depends....

I can't really think of any other VERY BASIC bluetooth phones.

Best option IMHO is to find an unlocked 6230 on ebay. SOME (very few) stores still have a few of them. I just got rid of my last one yesterday. The V551 is a good phone if you get a good one. Its the most basic really like SForsyth01 was saying.

And motorolas are built like tanks, too.

I have a V505, the predecessor to the 551 (I got mine like a week before they started carrying the 551's....oh well...

My 505 has been dropped, kicked, drop kicked, and run through at least one laundry load. Granted, it didn't work right for about 2 days following the laundry incident...but the impressive thing is that it recovered fully. The battery is a different story, but I still get about 2 days from a charge, so while noticieably less than I was getting, it isn't intolerable.

YMMV, of course.
