swoop

I am moving from T-Mobile to Cingular while keeping my old number. I am waiting for my new instrument to arrive. Will Cingular move my phone book from my old phone to the new one.
Thanks,

Thanks,
I just transfered the addressbook contents from my old phone (Sony Ericsson T610) to my PC using IR. I have a *.vcf file on my PC. I hope this is compatible with the new phone, Nokia 6102.

If not, transfer the numbers to the SIM card, pop the old SIM in the new phone, copy the numbers from SIM memory to phone memory, and put the Cingular SIM back in.

I did this when I went from Tmo to cingular, and it worked fine. I actually also went from one phone to two, so I was able to clone the phone book....

Not everything will transfer this way...multiple numbers/name, for example, and special ringtones you may have assigned...but then again, those features are phone-dependent anyway, so your new phone may not support them the same way anyway...

I had a customer who ported from T-mobile to Cingular on Saturday Oct 30th, still today Nov 3rd she can't use her phone. We have called customer service and they said that she would have service on the 2nd, what is the deal? What do I tell this customer?

What is her port status, usually it needs a resolution. Call in again, and have her power cycle her phone and it should work, but since we have had problems with ports lately, just apoligize, and inform her that you checked and doulbe checked her port to make sure it's going as smooth as possible.

If the customer accepted her Ts&Cs via IVR, they give her a direct PAC number for her to contact them. If the number has not yet his concur, it means that either she cancelled the line before the transfer was finished, she has some type of block on the former account or there was information that was put in wrong on the Telegence/CARE/OPUS side.

Either way, the best way to figure it out is to give good ol PAC a call and have them check the status... they can usuaslly push things through

Porting number from T-Mobile to Cingular:

I received my new phone today. I can now make and receive calls from my Cingular phone but cannot get to my voicemail.

I get a message saying that there is no mailbox by that number. I am guessing that my voice mailbox is not ported yet. Is this normal?

I followed the instructions and did not cancel my account with T-Mobile. But it appears that they did it already as I am not able to login to my T-Mobile account online.

Thanks for the reply. I understand I get a new voicemail with the phone.

I called Cingular and after spending 2.5 hours with 2 customer support and 2 techical support folks, they could not figure out the problem with my voicemail.

to Recap: When I dial 1 ( voicemail ) on my phone, I am prompted for the mailbox number and when I do that it says that the mailbox does not exist.

when someone else calls me and if I don't answer, it says " the wireless customer you are calling is not available, please try again later"

argh ☹️
