There is no sync software that came with my phone. You need to download the software from the sony ericsson website. At least that is what I had to do because the only software that came with my phone was magicgate software for the memory stick.

I have not synchronized mine with outlook, so I wouldn't know how hard it is, but I can't imagine it being too hard.

Nextel, I'm not trying to be an a$$, but how would you know how hard it is when you don't have Cingular and don't have that phone?

I was THINKING the exact same thing. I was in the process of deciding whether to jump on him or just let it go.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts.

In my mind I just keep hearing "walk away, walk away" but he just makes it so hard with the stuff he posts.

I agree, I was hearing the same "walk away" phrase in my head, but I just couldn't leave that one alone.

WHEN THE DEVICE IS DESIGNED TO SYNCHRONIZE WITH OUTLOOK!!!!!!

With the S710a, it was an afterthought.

Those devices are MUCH different in their synchronization processes because they are designed with outlook synchronization in mind. The S710a was designed as a camera-phone with the outlook synchronization as an afterthought.

it is actually the same process... with the outlook synchronization....

afterthought or not, its still the same easy process.

...but is the synching software you get from SE intuitive enough for a novice user to figure out how and where to get his contacts and etc?

well if one reads all of the tutorials then it is easy...

Yes, it is pretty user friendly. Not too hard to deal with at all. And the phone's manual walks you through actually making the connection.

Don't listen to Nextel18 on this topic as he has NO experience with this phone or with any Sony Ericsson software period.

it doesnt have to do with SE, it matters about the overall process.. it is the same everywhere..

It has EVERYTHING to do with SE because they wrote the software that accomplishes the synchronization.

That is what I was thinking, believe it or not I use Nextel, but I handle IT for this firm and a user went ahead and bought this dealie and obviously the PC (Outlook) has no Bluetooth so synching w/o a data cable aint' gonna' happen...

I'm just curious when he gets the cable what are we gonna' be in for?

It would be much cheaper and easier to get a USB bluetooth adapter. Then you can sync it that way.

I'll pass that along to the user because the company probably won't pay for that... Is it cheaper than the $30 USB data cable or same?

Probably between $9.99 and $19.99 at your local Best Buy, CompUSA, or Circuit $hitty.

the point that i am trying to make, whether it is on an SE, blackberry, pda, 930, or any phone that allows access to outlook or lotus or anything else with BlackBerry Enterprise Server Email or solutions like that are very easy if one reads the tutorial.. if one isnt technical savy, but reads it they will be fine...

that was my point..

yes, i have no experience with SEs but its the same process wherever you use it.

How can it be the same process when it is different software that manages the synchronization?

Let me be the first to tell you that synchronizing my S710a has been nothing like syncing my palm or any other phone I have had. And I haven't even tried to sync the S710a to outlook yet. I am just syncing pics and MP3's.
