Browser Settings...

here is a very juvenile question; and I am terribly sorry if I am wasting your time here. I just bought a ROKR unlocked. There is no carrier name on this phone. When I put my ATTWS SIM card in the phone for the FIRST time, will the WAP and browser settings be applied automatically? Will I have to contact cingular for these? Will they give them to me with no questions asked? Can I get them from the website for cingular (they have a device assistance link)?
Help an old man here guys...

This is what I have been needing...thank you a million.
I was just thinking, I hope I did not make a mistake in buying this phone. Quite a few mixed reviews on it.
The 'itch' for a new phone was getting to me...I did not want to wait until 2006 to see what came out. I like the idea of iPod and can see how handy it will be with a cell phone built in. But as I mentioned, there are so many mixed reviews on it.
Wish me luck

cheers!

i re-read your post and i saw that you had a at&t sim card. the settings on that site i gave you are for the cingular branded phones that access media net not for the customers that are still on the old att service. it may still work however because i have accesed mmode while using a cingular sim card but im not sure if you would be charged for accesing the wrong service by mistake. tech support could give you the correct settings though if you call or maybe do a google for rocker mmode settings. hope it works out.

I was looking at the settings listed on the link you gave. I then whipped out an old mMode cell phone, put the SIM in and looked at the browser settings. A colleague has cingular. The only difference is that cingular uses MediaNet therefore a different home page, and different WAP settings I'm sure. ATTWS used mMode and has a different home page and the different GPRS access pts. Now, be patient with me here, if I were to manually change the browser settings to reflect the mMode setting in the ROKR, wouldn't the phone access mMode rather than MediaNet?
😲 😳

cingular rep ( 🙄 ) just told me about auto updates that are available to subscribers with a carrier-branded phone. Do you think this is true?
