What is the phone # to access the voicemail?

I was told with the GSM phones, there is a different number to call from your cellphone to access the voicemail, instead of calling your own number.

On my phone, it came programmed with the number 713-822-1599 for voicemail, which is a generic number. My actual cellphone number is something else.

If you call this number from a landline, it will ask you for your cell #. I guess the system is reading the caller ID from the landline and doesn't recongize it as a cellphone.

This is a Houston number and my question is are there more than one of these numbers for the Houston area?

My girlfriend and I are both on Cingular but her phone isn't programmed correctly. When I tried the 713-822-1599 number on her phone, it didn't work. She has a 281 Houston area code and I have a 713 Houston area code. Is there a different number for 281 area code?

when checking your voicemail from a landline phone, dial your mobile number. As for the rest, I am in the Boston Market, so no idea. We do have a few Texas reps that frequent the boards, so they should be able to help you there.

I am not to sure what the generic numbers are in Houston (besides what you told me). There is a seperate number for 713, 281, and 832 area codes and their respective voicemails.

To check your number from a land line, call your actual number, then press star when you hear your recorded message, or standard greeting if you did not leave a personal message. Then enter your pass code. Do not change the "dummy" voicemail number. If you continue to have problems, see your local Cingular rep. You can change the voicemail mailbox number to your actual cell phone number. To tell you how to do this, I ned your...

just dial your cell number, and when the message starts...hit star...then enter your passcode, you should be able to access you voicemail that way, if you're unsure about the number. i'm in north carolina, so i don't know about the actual number.
