I don't get the whole PTT "advantage" unless you are speaking to groups as in business such as tech reps or construction workers.

that's exactly who should be targeted consumers. this isn't something that an individual user will be interested in, unless their buddy has a work phone with PTT.
I agree that it isn't necessarily helpful to the "average" user, but there are a lot of places where it can be useful...any place you would use a 2-way radio, for example.
And it is faster than texting, although it is less private and more intrusive....
I have never understood the push to have it for normal consumers though, and I don't think the average user, except maybe for the "gee whiz" factor, is really that interested. It would be interesting to see what ...

(unless you have a sprint/nextel individual plan without the free M2M; but then, wouldn't it make sense to pay $5 for free M2M rather than for PTT??)

To lessen confusion, there are no Cingular phones loaded with the Kodiak RTX software other than the LG7200 and the Samsung D357. You would not be able to turn the feature on unless you are using one of the two phones I mentioned as all other phones use a different companies PTT software which is not back wards compatible or standardized
