it is new technology, just as if any other newer device came out and you have already purchased equipment 6mos before. Some devices are already PTT capable, the feature itself just needs to be added to the account.

Which other phones are already enabled? I thought anything enabled for PTT was new to the market.

PTT...now why would anyone want strangers to hear B9Th sides of a conversation. One side is bad enough.🙄

I don't get the whole PTT "advantage" unless you are speaking to groups as in business such as tech reps or construction workers.

that's exactly who should be targeted consumers. this isn't something that an individual user will be interested in, unless their buddy has a work phone with PTT.

As a former repair tech, we used nextels. The big advantage was that you could use it like a radio, without the range limitations of radio. Plus, unlike phone usage, which is rounded up to the nearest minute, PTT usage is measured in seconds, or at least, it is on nextel.

I agree that it isn't necessarily helpful to the "average" user, but there are a lot of places where it can be useful...any place you would use a 2-way radio, for example.

I should have added, this was before there was free Mobile to mobile, as well. PTT makes a lot of sense if there isn't free M2M, but since everybody has that, and the various PTT systems don't interoperate, you ALREADY have free M2M with anybody you could PTT to.

(unless you have a sprint/nextel individual plan without the free M2M; but then, wouldn't it make sense to pay $5 for free M2M rather than for PTT??)

No phones released will work with cing's ptt system. true the z500, 6102, 6682, etc all are ptt, they aren't kodiak ptt.. so they won't work on this network... kinda sucks though, there should be a software download that would let any phone do it...

To lessen confusion, there are no Cingular phones loaded with the Kodiak RTX software other than the LG7200 and the Samsung D357. You would not be able to turn the feature on unless you are using one of the two phones I mentioned as all other phones use a different companies PTT software which is not back wards compatible or standardized
