T-Mobile uses 1900 MHz, and only 1900 MHz. (850 MHz is useless for their purposes, thus 1900 is clearly better.)
Cingular uses a patchwork of 850 and 1900, depending on what licenses they could get. My understanding is that 850 gets better penetration, while 1900 has better range. Whether that makes one or the other "better" would depend on your needs. Either way, we build our network to deal with it.
Cingular's licenses in California are for 1900 MHz, so you would not see much differen...
