Instant Messenger

I have been having trouble using the aol instant messenger software on my phone. When I sign on in goes through the whole process and takes many minutes then eventually tells me the connection failed. However it will show up as connected on other people's buddy lists and it will even tell me I have new IMs. I just can't get into the software to access them b/c it will just bring me to the sign on screen.

This has happened with utiple screen names. And of course I got a Marketing Text from Cingular offering the great advantages of downloading IM software. Is this their way of telling me that the old software is not supported and I need to download the new stuff?

Thanks for everything.

It's the Nokia 6230. It worked for months then stopped. Coincidentally, my original 6230 lasted 25 days before Cingular replaced it with this one b/c the mail and IM programs didn't work.

Alot of the times when it says connection failed, you will need to contact AIM (# on AIM website) and they will help u out. It has happened a few times to people that come to my store, we call up for em and they spend a few minutes on the phone with the rep and they leave with a working program.
