We were using her tester phones. Now, she very well may not have heard that it was delayed again since we met first thing this morning.

we've been using our phones since last friday. We received 3 lg7200's (not for the display) today overnight delivered from TN. maybe the samsungs are due tom.. we were told a saturday/sunday launch...

you think the sat/sunday lunch will still happen? or do you think becuase of people on here saying it was more then 4+ seconds that it shouldnt be launched?

I think it'll launch. Samsung will insist upon it since they footed the bill for all the employee phones, and LG will also since they footed the bill for all the demo phones.

It'll all come down to money, and Cingular needs this to draw interest back into the company during the holiday. Alot of people have been waiting for it.

No, I don't think it's wise. There is an oppurtunity here to launch a product, just like they did with mobitv, and build it up with the future enhancements. Mobitv is a good product, just a little slow on most phones, which causes it to skip. PTT will be the same thing, 1st gen phones will more than likely be slow compared to 2nd, and 3rd generation devices. Thats why they are only launching it with two phones. They (assuming here) are going to use these two to test how it work on a large scale, and tweak handsets, the network, and use that to learn and release better products that support PTT even better, with faster connections.

Remember when Nextel's PTT came out? It had a lag time too, which was forever compared to what it is no...

PTT will come out before HSPDA. I have heard that the delay will not be a long delay. Cingular has to have a great PTT product they can not afford a poorly tested product that does not perform well and meet custoemr expectations. Cingular has not been doing well in reputation and customers willing to recommend Cingular. As long as that trend continues expect for cingular's add-ons to be lower than other carriers. Word of mouth directly from customers is very powerful. Consumer reports is very powerful and so are other organizations that rank service providers. Cingular is reading these reports more than anyone who works for the company will admit. Cingular is pretty worried about their reputation and customers perception of the company. A b...

i know push to talk will come out before hsdpa, but i am asking if it is a better idea to launch hsdpa first then push to talk second?

cingular's name is already hurt so who knows if 5-8 seconds on the set up call (according to many people on here) would to well in a marketplace where they want less then that?

ptt has nothing to do with hsdpa... ptt using voice channels, hsdpa is data.. two totally different animals.

i know.. the point was, they will be bringing out hsdpa out which is data and then carry on push to talk as another application which should help both products.. they should go hand in hand..

usually if you have a very good data product your push to talk product should do well too.

that is why i think they should roll out hsdpa first before push to talk.. fix their kinks and things of that nature for both services.

only way to get a phone at this point is if you work for cingular, or are an agent. We've had ours for over a wk now and first it was 7 second delay to connect, then 10, now it's back to 7. we've had a signal issue at our store the last couple days (due to another companies repeater) and the ptt worked fine through the whole ordeal with no problems.
