Question for RAZR users

brentgodwin

Nov 17, 2005, 12:13 PM
I am a verizon indirect and have seen all the talk on here about when and if the RAZR is coming to our service.

I am asking all the Cingular RAZR users about the durability, the signal, battery life, overall quality of the phone.

It is really worth the 2 or 300 plus bucks on activation (if that is where they start it)?

Thanks in advance for the help.

it's a motorola. motorola may be strong in market share in the US, but we have way to many warranty issues with all of their products for them to charge $200 for the phone.

Ok.

Anybody else got any thoughts?

Yeah,

More phones sold = more phones with warranty issues.

Motorola does not have a disproportionate amount of warranty issues. They have more because they sell more. Motorola defective rates are not significantly higher or lower than any other manufacturer.

Now that being said, do you LIKE the design of the phone? I do not personally, but that does not make it bad. Many people love the style and the construction. It is made from aircraft grade aluminum, very durable substance. The display is quite large and if it will have EVDO is seems like a winner for Verizon.

According to Verizon website, it will be EVDO capable because of the VCAST capability of the phone.

Thanks for your input. We here are not sure even if our owner will even purchase the phone right away for us to sell. With the LG9800 being so new and in that same price range, he may wait until Summer to bring in the RAZR.

Might be a mistake. Look at all the buzz. People will want this phone and only this phone once it is released. Mob mentality.

Motorola DOES have more warranty issues than other phones. How do I know? I work in warranty exchange for Cingular. The quality control is not the same as it used to be.

The new LG versus the Razr? Totally go with the LG.

Ok, look guy, you need to understand some simple math.

If you sell 40% Motorola phones, they should have 40% of the issues. If you sell 10% Nokia, they should have 10% of the issues.

Of course you see more returns of Motorola handsets, but you can only blame that on statistics.

Bottom line, Motorola is no better or worse than any other major manufacturer for problems.

Stomp!

I currently carry a MPx-220. Just changed from a ROKR. Will be moving to a W600i next week.

I own a Z520 (just won in a contest) and a LGC2000.

To be honest I carry a different phone every few weeks. I carry what is the hottest phone marketing wise for demo purposes or I carry a new release. I want to have a good working knowledge of every handset and determine for myself how well it works.

You could always send me that Z520 that you won in the costest for free. 😉 🤣

the razr on the cingy network is mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............ok but its not a $300.00 phone. its a motorola v551 flatend with aircraft steel. wow! if you into conserving space then yes, into looking cool you should of gotten the cingular one a year ago, need a big screen then yes.

the vzw razr or as some say "crazr" will have ev-do, if the video clips take up that whole screen that would be sick, but if not, stick with the lg9800. now thats a cool phone (but if you wanna look cool using it you have to get it now).

welcome.

The RAZR is an amazingly durable phone for how fragile its feel is. I have dropped it a few times onto concrete and don't have as much as a scratch on mine.

Is it worth 300+ dollars? Only if you are into having the "it" phone. There are definately phones that have more features for less money. But nothing, and I mean nothing, stops people in their tracks to check out your phone like the RAZR does.

Its a chick magnet.....Honestly. That is why my wife hates that I use it.

I got my boyfriend one, BIG mistake. Good thing that I don't care too much. He gets hit on when that thing is on his ear. That will all phase out though. It seems that the phone is easily accessed thru your local Best Buy and Wal-Mart for a cheaper cost, so EVERYONE can get one. How special is that??? I know that I wouldn't feel as special if the phone that I thought was a high end phone was used by half of the high school in my local town.

I completely agree....but it still has some of the "cool" factor to it. I get stopped every time I answer my phone in the middle of a mall.

I wonder what kind of "chick" is attracted by a cell phone? If she is over 16 and I would be very suspect. Can't imagine your wife would be concerned with such a "chick." 🤣

I bought the phone unloked, used it for 30 min and thought it sucked when it first came out. I gave it to my partner and he thinks he is cool. 😎
We are both of football player build and have to handle the phone like it is a chihuahua dog. Just not possible with us. He thinks it's cool though. Whatever, as long I don't have to use it. 😛
Bottome line...it is too dainty.

cheers!

I agree and I'm a slight woman. I like my MPX220 especially with the new firmware. Razor is all flash no substance and kind of looks like a women's phone. this for the purse and all that.

True, but this is the Cingular/GSM version of the phone.

The verizon version is upgraded in a couple of ways (EV-D0, for example, and a theretically better camera), so they are releasing it pretty close to the price that cingular originally released the RAZR...in my opinion, for the features, you really aren't getting your money's worth.

Then again, I guess some people would consider "cool" to be a "feature" of the phone.... 😈

The VZN razr will NOT cost as much as when it came out for cingular...NO ONE WOULD BUY IT...they could charge that much a year ago, because no one else has it...The price will probably be around $200 with a two year agreement...NOT $500.
