D357 Recalled
The Samsung PTT phone which was to be launched commercially with the PTT service has been recalled due to several firmware issues. Looks like its not just the service that is holding back the launch date.

I dont see why they pick LG & Samsung to launch it w/. They make terrible phones. They should use motorola or nokia.

Cingular's PTT over GSM is proprietary so they had to get a phone manufactuer willing/able to write firmware specifically for it. It's not compatibile with the other PTT over GSM implementations like you see overseas (and on the Nokia 6102 here in the US). Hence why there was absolutely no info on the d357 prior to them being shipped.. there simply wasn't a comparable product to build off of. I have heard rumors however that the 6102 might get rereleased in 06 with firmware supporting Cingular's version of PTT.

You'd figure they would use Moto for PTT promos; they already have it down with Nextel. I hate my d357: no reception in my house where there is usually 3 bars and no camera. Bah hum bug.

LOL my 357 is cool.. except the cam, but thats what i have a s710 for. we have the phones in stock, just waiting for the ok to sell them... kinda mean teasing us like this!!
