FYI. I saw in some release notes for our software Push to talk to set for some time around July 19th. I know some people have been asking about it. This is what I got from our release notes. Also I am not sure but I think the first phone will be a Siemeans ( i am not sure how to spell it) I think that is what I saw for the first phone but i could be wrong, since i am not looking at the release notes right now.

From the reports I have heard, Push to Talk has been pushed back indefinately right now until the pending merger with AT&T is finalized. According to my sources, Cingular wants to launch more than just Push to Talk, because it won't do well as Verizon and Sprint PCS are experiencing. They want to add in some new features to directly compete with Nextel. The most promising feature I heard about was a conference call system, where all the phones would activate for the conference call once the host is available. Anyone who deals with conference calls can most likely appreciate how nice it is to not hold while waiting for the host to join. This is all in the works right now, there is nothing concrete. Last I heard Cingular was in final testing of PTT using the Kodiak RTX platform, which is comparable to Nextel for connection speed and latency. My understanding is still July/August '04

Cingular will definetly have the push to talk and I know for sure that Nokia push to talk phones will be included. I haven't heard any definetes on the other brands. While having a training on the Nokia phones a few weeks ago, I tried one out and it was AWESOME!

Yeah, Cingular definately will have the Push to Talk. At a training in March for date we got to use the Nokia 5100 series PTT device. It's definately a sweet phone and reps from Sony Ericsson that I've talked to have mentioned the Sony Ericsson T637 (i think, looks exactly like the 616) will have PTT. But from what I've heard we are still going to see more delays.
