I was cruising e-bay checking out some weird phones and came across the Nokia 6651, a Dual-mode WCDMA 1900/GSM 1900 phone. I was wondering, is WCDMA 1900 the band that Cingular is currently deploying, and if I got this phone, would I be able to utilize it?

I see tons of euro phone with WCDMA 2100, is this just the european version of UMTS, like GSM 850 is to GSM 900?

They are correct. The performance of the phone will be directly determined by your location. Only a few cities in the USA have the UMTS technology active right now.
I used to have the motorola counterpart to this phone. It was awesome. I got rid of it because UMTS was not deployed in my city as I anticipated. 😡
My fault, oh well...
I just got this ROKR phone, and I'm not too buzzed about it anymore. It is convenient...but the 'buzz' I had for it is fading...
Again, my fault, oh well... 🙄

cheers!
