I just read the January issue of Consumer reports it ranked cingular as dead toilet bowl last. They just came straight out and said Cingular has wide spread static problems.
That’s pathetic! What is cingular going to do about this?

Yeah, I heard Cingular flat stunk it up in da Consumer Reports survey. But it ain' hopeless or anythin'. Cingular's CEO kinda laid out their plans for improvement in a pretty interestin' interview a little while back:

Least he's got a plan to take the biz forward.. now he's jus' gotta execute it well.

There is no way Sigman can turn it around. They need a new chief and a complete revamp all together me thinks. I'm looking at the magazine right here and in the Cingular box is says STATIC IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM wow There horrible network is affecting them bad enough each quarter as it is, when people read this magazine its going to punish them even more. And verizon just put out there razr I can only imagine the numbers at the end of year. I predict they come in dead last again on signups. I mean really at these point anyone with any sense won’t sign up wit cingular.

What about those people who are exceedingly pleased with how Cingular's network has worked for them? A few short years ago I switched from Verizon and am never looking back. I'm about 1000000% sure I'm not the only one.

Cingular rocks Verizon's network in the Pittsburgh area. That being said, it wasn't even a Cingular market before the merger. Explain to me how they can acquire an entirely new market and turn it into a powerhouse network that exceeds Verizon's in a matter of months?

Before the acquisition, AT&T was not near as good as Verizon in the Pittsburgh area, unless you are talking TDMA. AT&T's GSM had alot of problems here. Cingular is solely responsible for the changes and improvements in the GSM network in Pittsburgh.

actually, having managed through the merger in the pittsburgh area, the improvement STARTED when we were still blue with "project liberty". When Cingular acquired us, shortly after we finished the 850 mhz overlay to the existing towers, and voila, a much improved, overall better network.

Cingular certainly is goin' to continue to take a pounding in the short-term, but in the long-term, there is some hope.

They'll finish the network integration, get their 3G network going (which should be more reliable), and maybe, jus' maybe, eventually fix their customer service problems. Maybe. 🙂

Their CEO gives 'em 2 more years 'til they get it together ('end of 2007') an' that sounds 'bout right.
