Stay away from Best Buy!

I just came from Best Buy to purchase a cell phone and they have the most idiodic staff in the world. One of the guys was trying to argue with me that Sprint and Verizon has sim cards. Then they were out of stock for the phone that I wanted and since Verizon had the same model, that idiot just rung up the Verizon one. They knew absolutely nothing about service and features. They had a Verizon guy (aren't they arrogant) trying to sell me service. He went on and on until I shot down all of that VZ crap they are trained to spew. His other buddy laughed and said that I should sale the cell phones because I knew more than any of them. It was just amazing. Just a heads up, stay out of Best Buy. I would personally rather pay more and have ...

Radio Shack doesn't know what they're talking about with their service too. They screwed up my Verizon Wireless contract, but luckily Verizon Wireless fixed the mess immediately with my contract. Also, at least the NW Indiana Radio Shack stores, they don't allow insurance on their phones. That way, if you lose your phone, they profit by selling a new phone at full-price. I'm glad they're getting rid of Verizon Wireless service in their stores, since they couldn't work out an agreement with VZW. Now on New Years Day, they switch from Verizon Wireless to Cingular Wireless for selling phone service. If they can screw up a VZW contract, they'll do the same with a Cingular contract too. Best bet is to go to a corporate store, regardless of...

yeah, go to a cell dealer, not a store that also happens to sell cell phones.

If you do not need your hand held and know it all about cell phones what the hell do you need to pay a corporate wireless store a premium for? Charity?

Those who know their shyte can save some money buy shopping phone price only.

Im guessing you are trying hard to insult someone's intellegance who you think cannot see through your obvious corporate Sales Pitch.

When I sold phones, most of my customers never read the manual and would come back asking what you and I think are the easiest of questions. So I do feel that alot of customers need hand holding and would value the help of a corporate store.

And those customers should pay the extra cost of the phones for that "service" Those who can read and have been to the rodeo with regard to phones can save alot by steering clear of Corporate stores and Agents,

You are exactly right. If you have ever sold phones before, you would know its probably a close 50/50 split between the intelligent buyer/uneducated buyer. Somewhere in there are the misinformed buyers!

That was supposed to be one of the reasons why at a BestBuy, you would notice at the cell phone display three people mulling around with BestBuy shirts and one with a Sprint or *insert carrier* shirt. The purpose was, that carrier person can easily sway undecided patrons to their side of the force because they know more about the product. The fact certain customers know more about wireless is unfortunate for the sales person from said carrier hanging out there.

Well anyway you look at it, they are fools. I could have dealt with not knowing about a few features but to argue that Sprint and Verizon has sim cards. Give me a break. I went to the store to check out Sprint's Power Vision phones and nobody had a clue what I was talking about but right in front of the Sprint phones they had a huge banner that read Sprint Power Vision here at Best Buy. Like I said idiots, I don't care how educated of a buyer you are. I'd rather pay more than have to argue with an idiot about sim cards. Also, they are not cheaper on all phones. They run specials on 2 or 3 phones week. The rest of their phones are over priced. The LG V was 30 more at Best Buy than it was at Verizon.

Sprint's Nextel phones use SIM cards don't they? I also think that Verizon has a couple models (Samsung A790 & Motorola A840) that are CDMA/GSM for those that might go to Europe that may use SIM cards there too, so they weren't too far off.

Talk about reaching. Let me clarify it, he pointed at the LG V and Samsung 940. Neither carrier has sim cards for use on their own networks. Plus it wouldn't have been as bad if they carried any of those phones you mentioned but they do not. They are idiots!

Everyone here can see clearly that you wish to undermine Cingular. And everyone knows the customer service you will recieve from Best Buy/Wal-Mart/Sam's Club. Your phone has a pretty good chance of being messed up in activation there as people are not properly trained, creating an easy way for a customer to think of Cingular as a joke.

Maybe if you didn't try and push your frugal penny pinching ways on people, more would go to the corp store, and maybe they could get away with lowering their prices.

But still, that's not the point. It's only cheaper at the big-box stores if you're going after a specific model... Nine times out of ten (especially with Sprint) Wal-Mart has always been more expensive than the prices they are charging at the Sprint Store....

To make you feel better...

Now Cingy: at Wal-Mart in my area there are four phones displayed from four different post-pay carriers. Each of those only one model from each carrier is priced less than an actual Cingy store... Razr, of course. Now that's four phones to choose from when the Cingy store down the street I think had thirteen of fourteen displayed.

Seems this is another leg for TenMidgits to spew his hate for corporate stores. Either way from what I have seen I would recommend customers come to a actual store. In any given day I spend the bulk of my time fixing cell phone issues and answering customer questions. A large portion of that is from customers that got screwed at Walmart or best buy. This isn't a flame to best buy or Walmart, and its not a praise to corporate stores. My point is buy large walmart/bestbuy customers who purchase cingular service end up not being happy and or get screwed and end up not wanting cingular service period. Most the people that I end up fixing from walmart and best buy are close to ending service altogether and the fact that they saved a few bucks nev...
