Is this phone comming out next year? If so if I have to wait for umts or hspda set up in my area will this phone work on plain ol gsm networks like phones do now.(basically will the phone work). Last question if im not mistaken UMTS and HSPDA are for high speed network not for voice calls right? If highspeed is not available will i still be able to go online using edge or the slower connection? Sorry for all the questions.

Any UMTS or HSDPA phone that will be released for the next several years will support GSM and GPRS/EDGE. As it is now, and will be for awhile, UMTS and HSDPA do not cover a significant enough portion of the network to offer a phone that supports only that protocol.

Yes, the V3x will work, even if you're area does not support UMTS or HSDPA at release.
