I used to have a TDMA cingular line that I disconnected in May when the contract was up. Is there any way to revive the account so that I can upgrade the account to a new GSM phone without paying an activation fee?

sorry but given the fact that its been over a half a year since you cancelled the account you are going to be considered a new customer. accross the board with all providers it would be the same result. with cingular you have 30 days to reconnect cancelled service. if you work for a large company they may have discounts that will waive the start of service fee. go to cingular.com or to a local retail store. hope that helps.

reconnection fee + upgrade fee > new activation fee

plus you get better deals on phones
go find a dealer that will be flexible with you
