I'd like to know if Cingular allows a person to choose any phone he/she wants for prepaid service. I need a backup phone as Cingular Wireless works great in Lowell Indiana, but Verizon Wireless is mediocre. Both services work great at home in Gary Indiana, but at work, I need a phone that'll work. In Lowell, only Sprint, Nextel, & Cingular work best because towers are in this town of a little over 3000, but T-Mobile & Verizon don't have towers in town yet and US Cellular is still roaming at the moment in this town, even though the company claims to serve this town. I have my eye on the Samsung SGH-D307 as a possible phone. I might also look at Nokia. I don't know what I might want, if Cingular allows any phone of my choice for prepaid....

Dave you can use any Cingular (or unlocked) GSM phone on Cingular prepaid Go Phone service. You will of course need a sim card which has not been previously activated in order to activate your new prepaid account.

You may use any GSM phone which has 850 and 1900 MHz, but if by "have" you mean "choose from Cingular phones offered" the answer is no, I believe.
