Roaming??
I have an older AT&T GSM National Plan, and I recently swapped out my phone with an unlocked model.
I set the network search to Auto... Like always, if I wasn't on a Cingular tower, I was SOS ONLY on T-Mobile.. However, recently, I can suddenly make and receive calls on T-Mobile. What gives?? And am I getting charged roaming??

If you're making a lot of calls on T-Mobile's network, then there's a chance you're getting charged for roaming in an area where there aren't roaming agreements. You need to set your phone to pickup Cingular towers and should go on Cingular before anyone else in your local area. Cingular & T-Mobile have roaming agreements, but only for areas where they don't cover each other's territory. Since both services cover your local area, you'll likely get charged for roaming. If the phone is a 1900 only phone & Cingular uses 850 in your area, then that's why you're on T-Mobile instead of Cingular & will be roaming. If you have a 1900 only phone, I say you should change to a dual-band 850/1900 phone and swap the sim card into that phone. What p...

Yes, I'm on the National Plan.. I remember signing up with AT&T, and their pitch for the plan was "Wherever you get a signal, it's NOT roaming".. The salesman had told me that basically I could NOT roam.. But when I had my first GSM phone, anytime I was on T-mobile towers, I got the "SOS Only" logo.. However, not anymore with the new unlocked treo (same SIM card)..
