i'm not sure what family rate plan to get. the salesman keeps puching the $89.99 but i think that might be to much. if i sign a contract for a family plan for $89.99 and later that night of a couple of days leter figure out that thats just to much, can i easily switch to the $59.99 or $69.99 plan?
if i switch on the same day, would my bill be fore $89.99 or $59.99?

thanks

You would be prorated for the charges should you switch. Also, you more than likely won't get penalized being that you just signed up for the contract on the family plan.

Some reps will tell you that changing the rate plan, will change your contract date while others will say that it won't change your contract.

From my personal experience, I changed my family plan to a lower plan after my first month because I had way too many anytimes minutes and my contract termination date change by a couple of weeks.

Just ask to make sure before you make said change, so that you are aware if your contract termination date will change. If you know right now that you don't need a lot of anytime minutes, then go with one of the cheaper family pl...

for cingular it does not require an extention during the first half of your agreement. so if you signed a 2 yr agreement then you can change your plan anytime within the first year with no extention or fee.

As a reminder...if you decided to change your rate plan 10 months into your contract (within the first half of a 2 year agreement), your balance of rollover minutes will be wiped out. You will only be able to keep the same number of minutes are equaled to your anytime minutes in your plan. If you reduce to the special 550 anytime with free n/w for $50 and you have a rollover balance of 2300 minutes, you will lose all but 550 of your rollover.

I know you just made up the 2300 minutes of rollover but let's use that as an example...

If after 10 months you have 2300 rollover minutes that is 230 a month. If you had a 1400 minute plan you were using an average of 1170 minutes. Going to a lower plan is not worth your while because your needs dictate the higher plan.

Many people don't get the fact that while 1400 (or whatever amount) is too many, the next plan down is way too little. At $0.40 per minute you only need to use an extra 50 minutes to make up the $20 jump in rate plan price.

Most good sales reps, myself included 😉 , will recommend a higher plan for that reason. It cost you $20 to have the higher plan, but the risk of $0.40 per minute for a user not sure of ...
