voicemail mixup...

Whenever I call my mother's number, (also Cingular customer)-I get my voicemail. I am unable to call Cingular to Cingular with her, and not one person out of 4 at customer service can find the solution. Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Wow, it's funny you have mentioned this. When did you get the phone activated? I work for Cingular Office of the President and I spoke with a customer the other day who was attemping to activate her daughter's new phone, but the phone kept displaying HER number when she turned it on. Then it would go to HER voicemail everytime she attempted to call her phone from her daughter's new phone. I couldn't fix the problem at the time, but she said it started working after a few minutes.

My phone was activated at least 6 months ago, I went with Cingular mostly because my mother is with Cingular, and we could talk mobile to mobile, etc. (We do have separate accounts). I don't know what to do, I don't have the time to devote to more calls with customer service, resetting over and over again my phone etc. in trying to figure this problem out, that's why I pay for the service, one of the key reasons, (mobile to mobile) with my mom, I can't use. I am very frustrated with the lack of followup or solutions from Cingular, although I have had very nice representatives with whom I have corresponded with-(they were polite, tried to find solution)- but no technical person has called back with a solution, after turning it over to the tec...

Honestly, when it comes to technical issues, a monkey would be better to handle them than me. I was never in technical support before moving up to OOP, but I did have access to a few of the systems that technicians did, and knew how to fix little things. When I spoke with this customer the other day, she was just activating the phone. I then had her power her phone off and give me the IMEI number (the sim number was already activated). That could have possibly been the solution. If that wasn't what solved the problem, I don't know what did. Somehow there was some sort of mix-up. I'm sure you've turned your phone off and on like crazy. All I can suggest is when you contact customer service, tell them that you have spoken with them num...

Thank you, I sure appreciate the suggestions and the help. I don't remember them asking me to take the card out and reading the number, it is certainly worth a try. I may just end up taking it up to the store I signed up in and having it done in person. You are certainly very nice and helpful, and Cingular is very fortunate to have you on their team!
Thank you again, and Happy New Year!

There is a "voicemail number" that should be programmed into the phone. it may be incorrect. i would advise you to go into a company owned retail store because generally we can fix those kind of issues fairly quickly. i had a customer with that issue before, and i can't quite remember why it was happening, but we were able to correct it.

I have decided that's what I'll probably go ahead and do...it's good to know that this is not an unheard of situation, so likely there is a solution. Thank you for your help, and Happy New Year!
