Hi all.. I've had Cingular, since June 24, 2004.. (got a 2 year contract agreement, so my contract will be up this June of 2006). NEVER been late on a bill.. But, I've been thinking.. Finances lately aren't that good.. And I still want to keep Cingular, and prepaid would be better off for me, too.. IS there any way to convert my number to a prepaid account? Without having to be reissued a whole new number? And is there any way to avoid the price to buy out my contract?...

thank you in adavance

Unfortunately, no. If you agreed to a 2-year commitment with Cingular, you are held responsible for that 2-year agreement. Now I have heard of some representatives who have spoken to their managers about this, and they have let them go ahead and cancel without penalty. I would think of all the possibilities first before doing anything (like maybe going to a cheaper rate plan, or thinking of someone who can take responsiblity of the remainder of your contract with a Transfer of Service). Believe me, I know it sucks.

Do you also have the discipline to use it less as well? Virtually no prepaid plan will cost you less money unless you use less minutes as well.

It is also highly unlikely you will be let out of your plan early, so the advantage of no commitmenr would no be there until June.

Good luck in whatever decision you make.
