Its not in Virginia, but they are trying to do so. Have to get 51%. But nobody but sales reps can talk about it. Nothing to go by but what the union people say. Good or bad?

I am a union cingular employee. I did a legendary post about cingular and the union. I think that if u guys are paid fairly your benefits and job requirements are fair there is no need for a union. I am not pro-union and I am not against the union just for the fair treatment of all cingular employees. A union is out for the benefit of the collective body not for the individual employee.

Marcus, i too am a cing employee and a union member, and as you and i have talked about in the past employees need to understand that the union is every represented employee, not just some job stewards. I have actually had to tell people that the grievance they filed is just not winnable usually due to the facts in cold black in white the company supplied when i asked for information. It isn't always about $$$ issues lots of times its about the work enviroment.Managment in many cases is actually glad we are there to address situations they cannot. so yes IF every company treated employess reasonably then there would be no need for a union.

Could be good, could be bad, depending on your market's situation. Most of the time it's good, but they scrapped control of commissions this contract. But cingular is realizing they have to pay good commission to keep people, and to maintain decent customer service in the stores.
