Cingular vs. Sprint

I am trying to get opinions for which is better. I currently have SPCS and have been with them for 5 years. I can see advantages to staying and leaving. I am trying to find out if the service is any better with Cingular or not. Sprint isn't bad, but I am here in San Antonio and I travel around Texas, so Cingular would offer more coverage area. What are your impressions of Cingular, its service, its customer service, etc. Any comments are helpful. If I go to Cingular, I am going to get the Motorola V400s. Anyone have anything on those? Thanks!

The roaming agreements Cingular's struck with ATTWS are very nice indeed (soon to get nicer once their networks are merged). They offer a unifie...

Personally, my impression of Cingular's customer service has been bad. Several of my friends have cingular and have experienced many problems with billing and even more problems with calling 611 for assistance. They say the reps were only helpful one the call was escalated. I'm not saying this is normal, but it's what I've heard.

Keep in mind that their customer service rating is low even for an industry that scores low on average. Also, the at&t merger has the potential to cause cust service problems. This being said, with any company most of the time you can get a cust serv rep to help you simply by being polite and patient.

Cingular's service area is comparable to Verizon's in most areas. I'd advise you to research the cdma vs...

The question was Cingular vs Sprint, not Verizon. I'd Say Cingular wins that particular battle hands down. look at Sprint nationwide coverage map, and you'll see they cover it up with large font city names so you cant see how poor it is. Yes, you may have service in much of the country, but 75% of seems to be roaming.

Spint got the short end of the stick in the PCS auctions in the 90's. they spend soooo much money to buy licences, that they had no money to build a network, and they have been playing catchup. this is also a reason why over the last 2 to 3 years, they have actually converted over to the same CDMA standard as Verizon, so that they COULD roam on VZW's network and APPEAR to have more coverage.

Another thing to look at is h...

in my experience with just about all of the carriers i found that csr service is the lowest category. do the research and find the carrier that has the best plan, compatible phones to your lifestyle, pricing of plans, coverage, phone upgrade. as far as plans i agree with jinx, cingular beats sprint. if you find any plan comparable to any cingular plan you still have to remember that cingular has rollover minutes. and coverage is getting better week-by-week.

Cingular is the better choice. Verizon is the only company that has made the cdma technology work at all, and that company is more hype than anything. Sprint has been rated poorly in cust service and network. Cingular is right in the middle. Verizon usually gets high scores in the csr dept but I havnet heard anyone but VZW say that they had better service. I used to have VZW,Sprint, tmobile and now have cingular. both sprint and vzw were terrible and i dropped more calls during my first week with those guys than i have dropped since ive gone gsm. better phones, better voice quality, better coverage. you get those with cingular not to mention rollover....
