8125 service question

svtbelch

Feb 12, 2006, 6:21 PM
What will you have to have to get the internet on the phone? Is there some sort of data plan you have to pay for extra? If so, how much and what is the best one to use?

To have this phone at full function, what do you need to add service wise?

the cingular 8125 is a smart phone, not a pda. the unimited data plan for a smart phone is 19.99 not 39.99...it is the same with the cingular 8125....just a fyi

You are both right the $19.99 is the unlimited medianet which uses WAP sites, the $39.99 is the unlimited PDA data package, which uses HTML sites, a smart phone uses the $19.99 plan a device like a treo 650 needs the $39.99 plan.

smart phones like the 2125 with non qwerty keyboards are allowed the 19.99 plan, if it has a qwerty keyboard it's going to be 39.99. The think if there is a qwerty keyboard that data will be used more so that want it ran through isp instead of wap.

The 19.99 will not work for the 8125 long term. It will not allow use of HTML pages to continue to be displayed on the phone.

The 19.99 plan is for "media net" specific sites, not HTML sites. you can try to use the 19.99 plan, but eventually you'll be cut off of the HTML sites.

the 8125 is a pda bud. the Treo is classified as a smartphone by palm, but according to cingular they are both pda's.

No such thing as an unlimited media works. There is unlimtied media net for 19.99. But if u want instant email on a PDA u should sign up for the 39.99. Because that includes instant email service and unlimited internet.

WRONG geez no wonder there is so much misinformation in this industry....YOU CAN NOT ADD the 39.99 unl pda data plan to the 2125...it is NOT a PDA...it's a smart phone...only the 19.99 unl will work

Ok per the device definition guide the Cingular 8125 uses 39.99 PDA connect Data.
The cingular 2125 uses 19.99 Media net unlimited.

You can use the 39.99 PDA Connect on the 2125 but it really won't do you any real good.

thanks.

Let's clarify this, basically either will work on the 2125. BUT, in order to qualify for the 100 dollar mail in rebate that is with the 2125, you MUST activate on a Unlimited Data Feature/Rate plan and a voice plan of 39.99 and higher. This info is pulled directly from the mail in rebate form. On the flip side it also states certain phones require an activation on a Unlimited MediaNet plan. Totally different. And I will say that once again, I beleive the 2125 will work with the 19.99 plan, but you WILL NOT get the mail in rebate. And per the company pricing matrix on the phones, the 2125 IS classified as a Data device, the same category as the Treo, Blackberry, etc. I personally would never activate a customer with that device on a 19.99 pla...

Plus lets face it you would rather get paid on a $39.99 feature vs. a $19.99 feature wouldn't you. Got hit all the marks on the matrix don't we?

Yes, that. Plus I would rather have the customer not come back to me screaming about data overages when they could have been set up on the correct plan the first time. 🙄
