I was wondering if anyone had any information on this phone at all (release, carrier/s, price). It's listed on the Sony Ericsson site as coming soon but I'm not sure when that was posted. I'm going in be in the market for a new phone soon and I love my T637. I'm assuming Cingular will carry it since it's the 'i' version.

The W810i is sony's flagship mobile phone. This phone will be better than the s710a in every way except the screan. If you want to learn more about this phone use the comparison tool on this site and compare the w800 to the s710a. The w800 and the W810i is basically the same phone.

$300 with a 2yr is pretty high for a non-pda/smartphone.

I know it was sleek, and stylish and a first of its kind here, but the RAZR was $500 on a 2 year. OUCH lol

Yeah but the razr had HUGE interest. Those people know they overpaid and regret it. Here we are less than a year later and they are almost giving them away.

the s710 was 319.99 before rebate, with the 2yr. this has a better camera and quad-band.

The problem im trying to figure out is how can they charge 200-300 dollars for this phone when thats the price of a one megapixel phone? I look at other carriers and see what they sell there 2 megapixel camera phones go for 350-400 and that seems more reasonable. Maybe im just buggin out

I just talked to the SE rep today. he says the phone will be released around the summer.

The camera IS better than the S710. i've seen photos taken with a W800's 2.0 compared to the 710's 1.3, and in 4x6 format, the w800 blows it away (of course) resolution is higher, colors pop better, no funny shaded areas. the camera is ALMOST 3.0 quality (since it can do a 4x6 with little/no distortion)

the W800 is an incredible tri-band phone for europe, and the 810 is going to be the america's dream phone. quad, edge, excellent camera, unlimited expandable memory (4 gig cards shipped recently from sony, and 8 gig cards are due later) and a SLEW of other features are going to make this phone unbeatable.

I'd put this money for this phone to be ...

What department did you speak with? I called SE today inquiring about the release date for the w810i and they informed me that it should be released by the end of this month. My only other thought was that maybe what you were told was the release date for Cingular's version of the phone. No one that I've spoke with at either Cingular or SE knew when Cingular would have the w810i available. A rep at Cingular figured that it would take several months after SE's original release like it did with the Razr. That would go along with the release timeline that you were told.

I'm really looking forward to this phone and might just hold off on starting a contract with Cingular until it is released.
