actually the opera mini uses less data due to the fact that the pages are loaded on opera's server then sent to your phone. instead of being loaded as the page is found like media net.

I have Opera Mini on my v551. My bill shows each and every time I used any kind of data usage (dates & times) and how much usage (KB) that was. Though I have the Unlimited Media Net package and am not worried about how much I use.
So yes when you use Opera Mini you will get charged according to whatever plan you have. Either the PayPerUse plan of 1 cent/KB. Or from one of the MediaNet packages if you have them.
