I don't see what the problem is. If what nextel18 says is false, or if they just came in here and said "Cingular sucks!," that would be something else. *shrug* Ignore them if you don't like it.

Using resellers is a good way to bring in income without having to manage to so many customers. Granted its a less ARPU, but I am curious if the margins are greater for that than of having them as your own post-paid customers.

I'm really surprised so many people put emphasis on pre-paid customer as I feel they churn easier and are less loyal. Just my opinion though.

that's why Cingular requires a cc/debit card or checking account for it's Go Phone - Pick Your Plan... if it is auto drafted, they are less likely to churn...

Well, they could churn anyway, because they could just cancel their credit card and be gone or say they don’t want the service anymore, however, that is the same thing with postpaid too, al though sometimes you are likely to pay an ETF. (Usually the ETF counts for about 3-5 months, which allows the carriers to still collect but upfront. at a lump sump

The problem is, the carrier must do its outmost to keep their subscribers happy and to get new ones because if they don’t it doesn’t make a difference if they attach it to your social security number or banking number or what not because the consumer wont be their subscriber.

Yes, resellers and others like prepaid are another source of revenue for the carrier other than the postpaid, but it is best that the carrier does better in postpaid and prepaid then reseller because the revenue is smaller then them. (Prepaid and postpaid) Granted with resellers the cost per getting acquisition is lower but at what cost? It depends what the deal is structured with the resellers because usually they lease the capacity on the network to provide services and resell the services to their own customers in their own territories. Because of that, it seems like the carriers would actually obtain rent money from this but also obtains revenue from their voice and data services, however, as you and I both mentioned it is way lower the...

i didnt even read the title of the thread...

but here is for the quarter 4 numbers....

1. Verizon= 2.035 million

2. Sprint= 1.928 million

3. Cingular= 1.820 million

(in order)

so the answer stays the same that cingular was behind verizon and sprint for quarter 4 net adds. (and full year results)

On the subject of resellers, who are Cingular Resellers?
If 54.1 million subscribers at end of 2005 includes resellers, do M2M minutes really apply when I call clients of resellers? Based on their advertisements, it sounds like it. Of course the same applies to all the other big wireless companies, however Cingular is the only one to state that they want you to join their family tree which is currently at over 54 million and enjoy the benefit of unlimited M2M on select calling plans.

In the Dallas Market, we have Progressive Concepts, Inc, or more commonly know as Hawk Electronics. As for others in the US, I am not sure. I think there were a few Legacy AT&T resellers.

As for for M2M being applied to these subscribers.....you bet, it is a free call. Hawk sells Cingular phones with Cingular plans, however their bills say Hawk instead of Cingular.

PM me for more of a description.
