New Phones for Cingular in March?

Hopefully when 3G phones launch, they will become available Cingular network-wide and not just in select metro areas where UMTS services are live. With anticipated quick expansion of nationwide 3G service this year, they should be available through all channels.

Well they will not launch 3G phones in areas that don't have UMTS. Because they aren't going to sale a phone in a market that doesn't have UMTS. UMTS has been out for a while in some areas before the At&t Wireless/Cingular Wireless merger. At&t had UMTS in Houston/Seattle and a few more markets. You could only get those phones in those particular markets. So if you are wanting to get one of those phones you would have to go to an area that actually has those phones.

I doubt that. I remember Vzw releasing phones like the LG VX8000 in areas where there was no EV-DO. They rolled out EV-DO (in my market) about 3 months after the phone came out....

that would be stupid. they do it with vzw in my area and we don't even have v-cast withim 70 miles in any direction.
