You have just started a new wireless company, what would you do? What technology, coverage, contract terms, number of units, minute packages, feature packages, procedures, policies and anything else you can think of? What would your company name be?

I would NOT sell phones. I would only sell service and the whole contract thing would not exist. I would only have one plan and it would include everything. I would not have a credit check but would require the first months service in advance. The monthly fee would be $45.00. I work for Cable One and we don’t have contracts or credit checks nor do we sell TVs just the service. Why cant a cellular provider do the same?

You do require they use your equipment though. Somebody can't walk in and get digital cable using their own box. You charge them a monthly price instead of giving it to them for a service agreement.

Sorry, but your company would go out of business with a business plan like that. Wouldn't be able to spend a dime on network enhancements because you have no guaranteed income. You also have competition to deal with unlike cable companies who have a city franchise. Yes, I know, you compete with satellite... but they use contracts and seem to be growing in sub numbers much faster than cable.

As is proven time and time again, people in general don't mind signing an agreement if it reduces the initial cost of ownership.
