But, I guess it true about the bad customer service from cingular. Even the people in this forum are somewhat un-helpful and rude. Ive been frequenting this forum to see how the cingular people like their phones and service. Based on this forum I think I may be better off staying with Alltel.

This is a perfect example of what Im talking about. For your information I am not a troll. Yes, this is my first post. I have been watching this board for several months. I have been with Alltel since 1990. My current contract is up in 3 months. I can either renew early now, or wait and switch to cingular. My daughter is trying to talk me into switching to cingular because she says "all" her friends are with cingular. Frankly, I don't care what her friends use. I pay the bills and if there is a problem I will be the one trying to correct any problem with a customer service agent. And so far, I don't think I would be comfortable switching. People like you really make the decision much easier.

There are other places on the net to read about cell phone service quality. It seems the cingular customer service has more going against it than for it. But, if I never needed to call CS then that would not be an issue. Im just checking things out before I commit. I have a few friends on cingular that have confirmed the poor CS with their stories. I also work at a plant that employs 1500 people and of course you can hear all kinds or horror stories that must be taken with a grain of salt. But when the vast majority of reports lean in one direction that should be a red flag.

I have been with Cingular for a little over a year now and the several times I did call in I had NO problems with CS. Hell I've even sat here and BS with one for about 20 minutes or so already. Some times I'll just go to my local store and get them to help me in there. Of course after the headaches I had while with T-Mobile anything is better...

What area are you in that you have problems?? I have T-Mobile now and I think they're great... I had Cingular for 5 years and they can't beat T-Mobile prices or CS...

That's funny I couldn't wait to jump ship and I was with T-Mobile for 1 LOONNGGG year!!!!!I won't tell you the hell I went through with their CS.

I am not a cingular customer. But a potential customer. Hence I am trying to get a feel for how the cingular community reacts to a individuals problems with there service. My intent was not to be negative but to see if my reports were accurate. I can see that on this board there are some level headed adults that truely want to help but there are also the younger set that are (to put it kindly) not what I would call helpful. Cingular could do themselves a favor by asking some people to not post on behalf of the company. I certainly have not made a decision yet.

ok. My bad. Is there a message board that might have some real cingular people that post? I don't figure cingular has an "official" message board. I just figured since this one was titled as cingular forum I might find some first hand information.

There really isn't one with "real" Cingular people. You really just need to understand that by posting on boards like this you will usually get some decent guidance, but you will also run into idiots.

It shouldn't be the sole basis for your purchase decision is all I was saying.

Just because someone is on this board doesn't mean the represent cingular... it could be they have alot of cell phone knowledge, and want to share it... either way, take what you read on these forums with a grain of salt...

If you are so easily swayed by some yahoos online in a decision as important as wireless service you might need to re-evaluate your shopping techniques.

Friends, family and co-workers are your best bet, not anonymous flamers who post B.S. in attempts to gain some sort of noteriety.
