Ive been working for cingular for 2 years, but ive been using wireless phones and services for over 8 years, with three different providers (powertel/voicestream/t-mobile, sprint, and cingular). Sometimes its beyond me the kinds of problems I hear people having with their phones. Dropped calls, NEVER getting any service, the phone turns on and off by itself, yadda yadda yadda. I always think to myself "I've used about two dozen different phones with three carriers and I have never had these types of problems with any of them"

Sure, ill drop calls, sometimes I wont get service and maybe my phone might act up. But here is the difference between me and most of my customers, MY EXPECTATIONS ARE REASONABLE!!!

When you use wireless techno...

lol this is so true.

guy came in today and said the phone wasn't working right. Welll... he pulls it out, the case is all ripped up, and the numbers on the keys are worn away. (he's only had it about 14 months).

Well his complaint was the light wasn't coming on when he charged it. (he has a lg c1300) Checked for the fun of it, and he's not eligible for an upgrade. No insurance(of course). He didn't want to buy another phone.

Now.. Maybe it's just me, but it seems he uses his phone ALOT. He opted for the free phone when he got it, and didn't want insurance...... (mistake for anyone not to get insurance if you ask me).

Anyways... he's not really upset, after all, it's just a light on the outside, that serves no useful purp...

Very, very, oh, so well put...

I tend to get most of those:

"My phone doesn't work"

*Powers phone on, "Here you go"

"What'd you do?!?!"

"....I turned it on?"

"How did you do that?"

"...I pressed the power button?"

At least 3-5 times a week, I have to walk through this scenario with a customer. And this is no joke or exaggeration.

The other day I was selling my buddy a SLVR, and another customer came in. I told my buddy to hold on, and it was a walk through of this scenario. After I was done with the customer my buddy was like, "You should have seen the look on your face."

Because such idiocy I guess invokes a natural reaction in me which causes me to visibly show the customer how retarded they are.

🤣

Did you ever stop to think that if it is happening 3-5 times a week that maybe someone, at a store somewhere (not yours of course) isn't spending time educating the customer.
Just a thought.

One of the main reasons our phones DO act up from time to time, is because we ask so much of them. Like my 6682, I'm surfing the web, emailing, texting, taking pics/videos. Hey these things can only handle so much at a time. I have had my 6682 for 6 months and 2 days ago was the absolute first time I had to remove my battery because it locked up. I was very impressed that it went that long, considering all the things I ask it to do. That is by far the best phone I've ever owned. Well worth the $$$ I spent on it. Love my phone, love Cingular.....life can sometimes be good 🙂

I have the same phone, Icyhot, and it's amazing. I don't think I could ever get rid of it.

I have a 32K sim in there, and have had relatively no problems with the device, despite other people I know with it, and other people on here.

I'm sure you probably know this, but you're aware how to properly shut down the applications? By pressing and holding the Menu button down, until the list of applications pops up, and hitting the C button to close them out?

Yes I am aware, thank you. I have a 32k also. If you go deep into he 6682 forum, it was I that discovered the 64k was the problem with the original F/W (which I still have) and my post over there was posted on mobileburn and maybe a few other places. I also posted that info on HOFO when I discovered it. I had the 6620 for a year prior to getting this phone, so I am pretty adept at the Symbian OS and love it. And my number 1 and 1a program for my 6682 is.........opera mini and yahoo to go..used to be profimail but that is yesterdays news. Yahoo to go is the shizzle 🙂

Yeah Symbians.

Yeah I still have the old firmware, and the Nokia rep, when she showed me the 6282, said she would take it and flash it for me.

Only problem is I'd lose it for two weeks!

I can not do that!

Plus I have no problems whatsoever, except the occasional slowdown, which like you said, is entirely understandable.

Thank you
as a long time rep i hear multitudes of complaints about things that generally fall into 1 of a few catagories
1)the fon is smarter than the customer
2)the customer refuses to accept this and needs to modify the equipment
3)customer breaks the fon all on their own
4)customer expects perfect signal strength at all times in all places
I have been using cell fons for 12 year and have few complaints, perhaps because I, also have reasonable expectations.
thank you for bringing it up, i thought it was just me

yet when anything else breaks they can understand that it's their fault. like a car. even though they pay their bank hundreds a month, they understand. they pay us $40 and go all crazy.
