How long and at what cost does it take to convert one tower from EDGE or GPRS to UMTS or HSDPA?

the upgrade is $1-$5 per POP. remember, it is mainly just a software/hardware upgrade so it shouldnt be a lot of time with the conversion, however, cingular and other carriers usually deploy it in demand driven and the best test results and network coverage.

so use that $1-$5 per POP and multiply it by the number of POPS that cingular either 1. has or 2. where you think they will deploy it.

well keep waiting lol.. in many areas they dont even come especially if they dont feel that 1. the network is good and 2. they will get an roic. yes, they already have edge or gprs which allows for a more easier transition to umts/hsdpa but it all comes down to money, becuase it costs to do these things.
