I do it for free if I activate the customer. If they just come in from the store down the road "hi, I heard you guys can transfer numbers phone to phone for free."

"sorry buddy. Its $XX.XX." it rings up in our system as 15 bucks, but I can charge them whatever I want. Guess it depends on what mood I'm in 😁

At USCC, the transfer of numbers comes with the purchase. Just ask the representative to do it.

This may not be a popular answer but its a true one.Its because people are to lazy for them to do it themselves, they could offer to do it free, then everywherre everyone would want them to do it for the.

Putting a price on it, then you seperate out people who can't do it from the people who just don't want to do it.

If there is a market, people will pay for it.

Actually, the reason that they charge for pb transfers is because they must purchase a machine(cellebrite) to actually do it (lack of sim cards)Once they purchase the machine they must continue to purchase "credits" to use the machine. So since it costs us money we pass the charge onto the consumer.
Wow imagine a company charging for something they also have to pay for!!! Damn capitalists!!!

I understand that, but my point is that if customers actually did it themselves then they would not need those machines, but if there's a market, people will make money from it, i am not against charging for it.I'm just saying if people asre bitchin bout the price then ...

My UmE-24 came with unlimited phone book transfers. I paid $500 for it, however after doing 122 transfers, it has more than paid for itself.

If you have purchased equipment or accessories from me, I charge $0.

If you came from another location....that will be $20.

I am pretty much the same. If you are a customer in my customer base then it will be a free service. We will charge those who bought the phone elsewhere a $10 fee, which is pretty good considering that the corporate store does it for $15 reguardless if you are a customer or not. Cellbrite is expensive and has to be paid for somehow. To the responder who said use the SIM card, your an idiot. #1, we may be talking about TDMA customers here so that is an obvious reason to do it. #2 They may have a phone from another carrier in which the SIM card won't work in. #3 Some stores will make a backup copy of numbers to a disk for the customer so that if the SIM is ever burned up or anything happens to it, those who saved to the SIM won't be scr...

1) Greed
2) They do have to pay the people who maintain the security and actually make the whole system work.

It was only a matter of time.
