Late 2006, or early 2007.

All the internal stuff is very vague on the dates, but management (as in Corporate management) has repeatedly said in a year. I'd guess it to be no sooner than Q1 2007.

q1 2007. i wonder how far cingular will be behind verizon in net customers in q1 07?

probably close to a mill. but lets waste money changing signs (again in some cases) to a new company name. good move guys

Yes the impending de-branding/re-branding is silly, not to mention another way to confuse and piss off all the former blue customers. Money well spent.

As for subscriber base, lets not count our chickens yet. Verizon still has some ground to cover. I look forward to net ads for both companies this year.

I have to agree with you that it'll only piss off and confuse the old ATT customers. A lot of them are still confused to this date on what happened. "Well, I was with ATT, but now it's Cingular, but I'm getting the same bill..." I can just imagine what's going to go down with this.

Nothing will happen with the old ATT customers except for the standard customer response changing from:

"I liked you better when you were ATT."

will now be:

"I liked you better when you were Cingular."

They're probably more concerned right now with getting a small army of state and federal regulators to approve the BellSouth merger.

to be honest I would be one of those people that would be affected by a name change( in a positive way)...i would be more inclined to buy from att then cingular. just because the name instills greater confidence for me..each to his own

i think this is the STUPIDEST thing we could possibly do.

all of the people who were EXTREMELY upset about being forced to switch to cingy to get new RP's, phones, and even a simple texting package are gonna be told they are being put back to AT&T. they're still mad about the switch, and anohter won't help.

"uhh, i'm with AT&T"

"sorry sir, you havea cingular sim card, and phone, and rate plan, you're basically still a cingular customer"

"BUT MY BILL SAYS AT&T!!!!! AND SO DOES MY SCREEN!!!!"
