coverage in summit NJ

I am currently with Verizon, who I must say has excellent service throughout this area but has really poor choices in phones. I am looking to get a GSM phone and need to decide between ATT and Cingular.. I realize they are merging but that could take any amount of time and my main concern is service and charges. Any information/advice would be much appreciated. I know that Cingular phones are cheaper than ATT, but would be willing to pay extra for reliable and quality service. I don't think service in NYC will be a problem, but what about throughout NJ?

Thanks in advance,
Zoidy

Are there certain areas you are interested in, or just the state as a whole?

According to our MapTool, there's medium to high coverage north of HWY 24 in Summit, NJ...

Cheers for that, I looked on the map as well and it all looks pretty orange to me. I did read, however, that the maps do not necessarily reflect the situation on the ground. I am concerned about dropped calls, clarity, etc. I realize that reception also lies with the phone -- I am getting a SE T637. In my position, would you get Cingular or ATT?

I am based in Summit, but looking for good coverage throughout the state.

Thanks agian,
Zoid
