I don't think radioshack has made a very large impact on cingular's numbers. Most employees are not all that bright and sell what they are comfortable with. Most radioshacks used to sell verizon and sprint. The introduction of the gsm system into their stores was chaos- I know- i was there. The store i worked at sold something like 60 sprint phones and 3 cingular. I don't think this helped cingular as much as it has helped sprint being that sprint is the only carrier they have that they are familiar with.
True, most radioshack reps i dealt with has only been recently and they were upgrading them from the old attws over to the new cingular plans.Heck i got like 8 reps in different market...

In addition, our rep knows less about the phones and service than I do, so don't always blame RS's salespeople - a lot of them are dumb, but there are some of us who actually learn about what we sell. A rep who knows their stuff and actually helps the sales process would have gotten me a few extra sales....
