This doesn't sound like raising the bar to me
Lack of towers causes company to end contracts
March 22, 2006
The general assumption when cell phone customers sign up for a National Freedom plan is that the phone can be used nationwide.
However, Cingular customers around the state received letters on March 11 informing them their national service was being terminated.
According to the letter, many cell phone users were making more than 50 percent of their calls on other carriersβ networks.
Local Cingular users soon learned this included calls made in or around Mount Pleasant because the nearest Cingular tower is located in Midland.
βI have two kids who go to Central Michigan University and we specifically asked about coverage befor...

even better go to tmobile where u get more for your money, and if you had cingular phones you can use it with tmobile just get it onlocked. π
oh yea. on cingular's map, all m2m minutes apply... where does m2m t-mobile minutes NOT apply? Oh, and where will data not work?
Cingular, The Allover Network... ring a bell??? It means all one coverage map... Voice, data and even m2m is all one map...
people whine too much.
just dont get why people complain when its in their contract.. they dont like it- move on!
Thank you

Excellent point too. On T-Mobile's site, I can see where I would be roaming and where I would be on T-Mobile's network.
really? where is that? it shows all one map, it doesn't show where you are or aren't roaming.

no where on cingulars coverage map does it even attempt to tell customers where they will be on someone elses network! you can't blame the customer for this. how are they suposed to know what is cigular and what is not. if it's not show or told to them. And cingular should have some sort of policy for their equipment...as long as it's in good condition take it back and sell it refurb.
You have a good point, but here is where you will see, let's say for a example the zip code is 10035, and shows we don't offer service there.
Just an example___ then what customers will do is say they live in zip code 10078,where they offer coverage, the customer will go to that area buy service through ...

Yea go to T-Mo where you could get used to using a landline! π€£
Ok, so let's go grab a pizza and get on with life. What toppings do you like?
I actually prfer just plain cheese
Frankly, I was shocked when I first started getting the calls for this. I work for another carrier, and people were calling after getting these types of letters, so I've known about this for some time.
But when I was working for AT&T and then Cingular -- in training how many times did they tell us that every time a customer has a bad experence he or she usually tells about 11 other people on adverage. This is a huge PR mistake, and I think it's a serious misstep in trying to rebuild Cingular's customer service reputation (isn't that one of the R's? Christ!)
Now, do the math. cust pays $49.99+taxes and all that. And he ends up costing US $1000=$1500 on roaming calls???? I don't think so! That customer has to go! π‘

IT IS CRAZY!!! One of my co-workers was assinged to this campaing and he showed me just some of these customers. There were customers who cost us $1000- $1500 A MONTH!!!

right... and the cause wasn't because of cingular. most people were people that moved after signing up with us. the other was smaller companies not renewing contracts with...

Then when the cust gets a call from a rep they explain the letter and answer any questions they may have. This is a very sensitive campaing and only 5-6 plp call on it. Last time we had this campaing in my call center we only called 150 accounts. As you can imagine these cust are NOT happy. But we have to inform them that if they want to keep their number, they have to find a carrier quickly before we cut them off. (as you know, if they don't port out before the account is cancelled than number is gone)
