Effective April 9, 2006, the activation fee for the secondary lines is suppose to be changing to $26 from $18 for our market in South Texas area.
Makes sense its like that now in the northeast and gulf coast markets, and i think also in the western region as well.

So raising the price is running them into the ground?????????
FYI, its been that way on the east coast and people have been paying it.People will pay what the market will bare.

its been that way in the gulf/southeast for 3 years 18 upgrade fee no matter if its primary or secondary
We're not talking about the upgrade fee, we're talking the Activation fee on new service so If you were activing 2 lines of new service its $36.00 for the first and $26.00 for the second, thats what the OP was talking about.

and the east coast doesn't add as many subscribers as the se reagion does... wonder why?
and activation fees, if more expensive than a competitor is something consumers look at when activating.

Oh please customers don't look at activation fees, they do down the road, upfront all they are concerned with is the plan and phones, and not even in that order!! 😈 🙄 😈

Uh, probably because Cingular is a joint venture of Bellsouth and AT&T/SBC (Southern Bell Company).
But that would just be my guess...

that's a dollar more than verizon. if a customer sweats something like that, you don't want them as a customer.
That's right, and let's be realistic for a moment. After cingular bought attws, their customer base became majority business customers, minoroty consumer acccounts. So it's a samll % who will see the increase let alone say anything abut it.So it's going to be any different.
Business as normal! 😈 😈
People should also consider this: for those of us under the old $18 secondary line activation fee, it was the same fee for upgrades, so many customers would wonder why they were having to pay the same activation fee again when they upgraded. Now, with the new policy, when they ask about the upgrade fee, we have one more response we can use--"well, the original activation fee was $26, the upgrade fee is only $18, and you're still getting a great deal on the phone... blah blah etc etc".
Good luck.
