What's the best site to use to unlock a Razr? I would apreciate the help. Web sites are the only way, right?
Laura
are you a Cingular customer? if so, contact customer support. did you buy the phone from Cingular?

Thanks for the information. I do that right now. Yes, I paid full retail. I know it's crazy, but I didn't want to go through ebay this time.
no, you didn't want to become ORANGE!!!
Are the web sites for real? Looks like it's a lot more difficult to unlock Motorola phones. The ones that charge 3 or 4 dollars - do they really work?
By the way, Argonnj, blue just means former ATT customer.
I'm not sure if that was a real question, though. Sorry if it was just a joke.

Thanks for your reply. I'm a blue cingular customer. No, I bought it from Walmart.
If you do somehow manage to get it unlocked, you need to be aware of the following:
1)If you have any issues with your phone service, we at blue customer care can't help you, we don't assist with unlocked devices.
2)Your mmode will not work. Its not compatable with the RAZR, they only work with medianet(cingular data services)
3)You can't call in and have any assistance with any issues related to your unlock device, refer to reason 1# for explanation.
If you know that and still willing to try and use it then fine.
Thanks for the info, though. I guess there are a lot of people that are new to this whole thing. I've been a phone "addict" for a long time.
Normally, I really prefer Nokia phones. I'm just waiting for the right Nokia for me. I'm sick of this clunky 6620. I've been using a Moto V551 in the meantime. Now, for some reason I just had to have this silly pink Razr.
Thanks again.

There is one thing I'm not 100% sure about...unlocking a phone voids the manufacturer's 1-year warranty, correct? Just making sure.
Yes It does. You will hear other people say not.But when you read the manual as to warranty it tells you that by the phone being tampered with it voids any warranty you have. And in order to unlock the device you have to tamper withthe software "flashing".
I have talked to nokia and motorola and LG on behalf of customers and their reps at those manufacturers on this issue, they have all told me "yes it voids the warranty" just as changing feceplates does as well.

What happens if you have the "extended warranty" that you can buy though the carrier for about $3 a month? I'm not talking about insurance, but the warranty service. I don't know if Cingular offers it, but Verizon does.
because yopu can't unlock cdma phones(verizon)different technology, same as you can't unlock tdma phones either.
My question had nothing to do with the technology side, just the bolt-on added warranty feature.

I know that, you totally avoided my question. What I asked is that IF Cingular had this, and how having an unlocked phone would effect this extended warranty.
My question had nothing to do with the technology side, just the bolt-on added warranty feature.
I wasn't avoiding it, just simply its not offered, only thing thats offered is Insurance by Lockline
Send it to me at my store....I will do it for $25 and you pay return shipping. I use the professional smart clip which unlocks all Motos.
Don't do the website. Motos have to be unlocked with a cable. If you use the incorrect unlock code 5 times, it permanatly locks the phone to Cingular.
PM me if interested.
