Cingular

For the simple fact that I have forgotten...who was Cingular before they were Cingular...I.E. Cellular one to Airtouch to VZW

Cingular was 11 different companies... mostly regional and rural carriers operated by SBC and BellSouth. They were combined totally in 2001. CellularOne is probably the one most associated with Cingular, though, even though that brand still exists today.

Ameritech cellular, houstan cellular, SBC Wireless, Bellsouth Mobility, Paciic Bell Cell, those are the ones i know.

SBC and Bellsouth are the parent companies. Cellular One SOLD a large chunk of it's subscribers and network to them when they became Cingular. But yeah... SBC AND BELLSOUTH went into business together and BOUGHT those other companies and added them to their own HUGE regional networks and formed Cingular. It was a combined total of 11 companies.
