ok heres the deal .. I'm 90% sure I'm leaving Verizon but I wanted to make sure that the Cingular signal is good in my area .. I have been told by several ppl that it is but I just want to get a feel for it myself

I got burned by Tmobile because there signal sux in my town

so heres the prob .. My cell # is my phone .. I have no house phone so Id be porting it over ... once I do this it final even if I leave before the 30day trial . Id have to report my number b ack to verizon and go thru the motions again

is there anyway that someone knows to "test" this out .. Can a ported number return to the previous carrier and would I still be charged the early termination by Verizon if I came back ... thats an expensive trial lol

also as as...

just get a new number with Cingular and then port your VZW number over later when you are sure

he is right, it is the best thing to do since there are too many problems with porting a number back-in. if you were 100% sure you were gonna leave verizon then just port immediately.

I didn't know you could even port a number back in.... and I would have bet my life savings that there'd be trouble reversing the process. 😁

Yes, We have the problem with cingular and sprint all the time out here, overzealous people want to sign them up ASAP and they are not even done with their contract, when they are charged early termination fees they start yelling and screaming at us about it. Also when people find out a specific service is horrible out here. I have done it too many times to count and it gives me a headache each time, especially when you tell them that they were on an expired plan and there is no way we can sign them back up on it.

It will be easier to have a temp number during the trial, then port when you're sure.

If you wish, you may also head into a place that sells Cingular. Ask them to look up the coverage on their Map Tool, RadioShack Sales people will do it for you easy.

The Map Tool will give coverage by your address, plus the nearby towers.

You might call around to dealers in your area to see if they have "loner" phones.
Our store has three lines which we use to give customers a chance to "try before they buy." We do have some coverage issues in our area and we decided it was easier to do this and make sure people have the coverage before they sign up.
It just makes for happier customers.

It's never been a problem. It's a small town and if they don't bring the phone back when they tell me I would change the SIM and I would only be out the cost of the phone. But we have never had a problem.

There are two things to do:
A.) get a gophone(prepaid) and test it out for 30 days to be sure you like the signal, if it is okay, return the gophone and start a contracted plan.

B.) activate new service with a temporary number, and then have your verizon number ported on top of that temporary number when you are sure you want to switch. BE WARNED! If you port your number after the account has been created for 60 days, there will be a 36 dollar fee applied on your bill for the number change.

If you want to leave VZW for cingular simply start up a cingular account, they will give you a cingular Mobile number, you then can try it for a week or so, whatever. if you decide its good and want to keep it you call up cingular customer care they will do a port so you take your VZW number and it overwrites the cingular number, at that point your VZW account will be canceled.

if you then decide you want to come back to verizon wireless you can port it back (or try could be complex) and if you do so within 90 days the ETF is waived so that 175 is credited back to you.

may I ask tho, what has you so upset about VZW that you are willing to pay the 175 ETF and just leave?

thanks for your comment .. thats what im going to do

as far as why .. ive had verizon for quite a while now .. the service has always been great but ive yet to actually find a phone i fell in love with

I LOVED my moto 600 from Tmobile but there signal suxd

Ive had all the LG's 6000 7000 8100 ect

I've had the Moto 815 .. Samsung 610 and currently have the V

I am really tired of restricted phones .. waiting for new phones forever and seeing other carriers have phones id love to have

I can pick out 4 cinglular phones id love to have .. about 3 from sprint .. and not a single one from verizon . I despise the blue tooth on the V . my 815 is good but it always shuts off/freezes on me .. and i am tired of the restrictions as far...

I hear you, we do have alot of really sweet phones coming out that I think you would like such as the samsung A990 and motorola Q those are both VZW Exclusives that should be out within the next 3-4 months but i hear what you are saying about the BT, the voice quality for headsets should be the same that hasnt been messed with but if you are using OBEX it is blocked.

We hate to lose your business but you gotta do what you gotta do. hope that info helped
