Job at cingular?

Ask The Shack

May 5, 2006, 12:14 AM
Hey all, I posted my resume for a job opening at a mall near me, but they haven't responded. I have about 1 1/2 years exp., but no further contact besides the e-mail receipt of my application. I submitted both my resume, and through their "cool resume builder".

Anyway, I was wondering if they have a phone number I could call to see what's up with my application(s). I would like to get the job, but I would also like the common courtesy of someone telling me that I didn't get it, and why.

Thanks in advance everyone.

P.S. I don't know if it matters, but it's for a sales job at a corporate store, in New York.

eewwww. this is tough.

try calling to the store you applied to. if it was a call center you could call the HR director of the call center (they are easy to get in touch with).

i do know they send you a crappy email and a post card if you are NOT offered a job. but it doesn't say why you weren't/

goodluck brother. NY a big market there is something bound to open up. 😉

Well, when I submitted an application last time, I went to the store and asked what's up. They said that they had no part in the application process, and the only thing they know is that someone got hired, and when they start.

Do you know if they have any call centers in NY? I searched their job listing, and nothing about call centers come up.

Try talking to the store manager. When you apply on line, it enters into a system called PeopleClick via the HR recruiter for that market. The recruiter will filter them and then forward to the store manager via the same system. The store manager then schedules interviews and selects his/her candidate using the PeopleClick system. I don't know why NY should be any different. I cant emagine that the store manager has no say in building his/her team in that market. But, you never know.

Well, I just called the cingular store, she said that she MIGHT have gotten it, but all the positions are filled. I don't know why she would pass me up with 1 1/2 years experience ☚ī¸

Well, back to putting my nose to the grind stone.

I'm really not trying to be mean when I ask this....

Do you think that you passed the pre-employment exam?

I am currently working at an agent store (AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and applied online for a job at a Cingular corp store. The afternoon I submitted the online resume, I got a call that afternoon!

I start on the 15th. I applied on the 25th of April.

Well, what does it take to get a job at Cingular? I'm a current college student, and have 1, and a half years in sales. I think I would be prime for employment.

Save yourself the pain my man. Cingular just opened the floodgates for Verizon to take over.

I started back in the AT&T days 7 years ago, went through the spin off to become AT&T Wireless, went out into sales for 4 years where I did very well, just to have all of it killed by Cingular. Cingular destroyed our B2B sponsorships for a while there, doubled /sometimes tripled the amount of stores in the area, whored itself out to 3rd party authorized dealers, and much much more. The hassle of knowing a ton of different systems while dealing with confused customers not understanding the difference between the systems is not worth the headache, especially when Cingular has continued to lower commissions and starting hourly pay throughout the pa...

The "new" cingular is not known for common courtesy when it comes to job applicants. If you want to get on it's good to get someone on the inside to help - & that's not always helpful. If they have some kindn of job fair, you may do some good there...
