i've had cingular for a bout a year, and i've had alot of problems with them, especially lately, i recently called custome r care the rep told me the are in the process of merging the towers, thats why there is so much noise and static on the phones in the orlando area, my wife also has cingular she hates it , so we went to verizon to check them out, i would appreciate so advice as to what to do,i've never had verizon but i did notice they dont really offer as much as other companies in terms of minutes, early night and weekends, i wonder if there service is as good as they say.

Your best bet is not to listen to anybody here. Talk to friends, family and coworker or even others. People on this site tend to be bias.. 😁

Not only that but service depends alot on the area you live in. Im near santa barbra and verizon is amazing, but its because theyve been in this area far longer than cingular has.

I say do what serves you best depending on where you live. Where I am someone having a verizon phone is unheard of. Cingular service here is amazing. I've never had a single dropped call. But if the service there is bad go for it. I don't think Verizon will ever have service here. I think it would be pointless. Maybe you just have junk phones. I have a Samsung I love it. Even when I had sprint(never again) I had them. Look into how many people you call and what companies they have. If a lot of people have Cingular it might cost a lot more $$ to switch then you think.

if your sim card is a 64k card and your still having problems then ask around. posting threads like this only start this carriers suck wars. i live in central pa and have roadtriped 14 hours to clearwater during my travel my cingular phone never dropped a call. (not saying i was talking on it the whole way there) but i did notice in south carolina it was patchy. when i got to florida i had 5 bars at all times. i use a sony ericsson s710a so maybe my phone better communicates with the network there. two other people that traveled with us have cingular and had no problem. one has a moto v551 and the other has a nokia 6010. the moto did give the call retry network failure a few times tho. my 2 cousins have vzw and they had no problem until we w...

Im in Orlando too, and have witnessed my service get worse and worse and worse since the merger. I also happen to be a former Cingular employee that left on great terms, so for me to say take this chance to get out takes alot for me to say. In fact, Im pissed that Im still in contract, bc Ive reached my breaking point too.

Im sure Ill be jumping to Verizon when the time comes, bc Ive come to terms with the fact that they are far more superior.

Again, STFU. Pay your ETF and LEAVE!
Have fun with your crippled phones. Verizonized UI. Over filtered call clarity. And ugly ass phone!
I hate people who complain, bitch and whine about s*** they can easliy change. If you don't like it. Go somewhere else. And if you then regret it; come back. But please I am tired or your whining.

if you want my opinion, go with VZW.

you have tried Cingular, for whatever reason it hasnt worked out for ya. if VZW has service in your area give it a go. you have 15 days to try it and return it if vzw doesnt work out for you.
